Small Group Spotlight – XYZ’s (Extra Years of Zest)
If you are looking for an energetic group, look no further than the XYZ’s (Extra Years of Zest). This group of retired men and women meet monthly, usually on the second Thursday of the month.
According to information in the church history book, the XYZ’s started in 1992-93 when Mary and Stan Harper and Dorothy Dunn called for a gathering of retired church members. The group has since met monthly for unique programs or excursions to regional attractions/dining places.
The planning for the year’s programs begins in September. In March, the group met at Joan Newcomb’s for lunch and later attended the movie “The Passion of the Christ”. Future programs/excursions for 2004 include: April – Easter Party May – Peoria Wildlife Park June – Lerna Museum August – Lake of the Woods September – Charleston Park Watch the church bulletin for more details of these events. Dale and Marge Hubert, Genelle Ingram, and Ron and Berniel Stinebring are a few of the people who have been members of XYZs since its inception. This active group shares in fun and fellowship and invites anyone interested to join them in any or all of the activities.
