Cards of Encouragement

On the 2nd & 4th Sundays we will have cards of encouragement to members of our church (who are sick, going through traumatic times, etc.) available for us to sign &/or write notes to them.

The cards will be located on the chancel table.

Joys and Concerns from February 16, 2003 9;

Jill King concern for Dr. Peter Dumich who will undergo an umbilical cell transplant soon. This is a last resource for a cure. He= s a wonderful man & devout Christian & this is the last resource for a cure.

Mandy Wood concern & prayers for her cousin who is battling cancer.

Melissa hays concern for her great-aunt who was shot in the leg during a robbery at the bank where she works, and now has an infection to fight.

Carolyn Dickey joy & happy to make it to late church & concern for a safe return airplane trip for her daughter from California.

Gary & Audrey Ricketts joy that their neighbor had no serious injuries after an accident Friday evening.

Martha Rosenbery joy for her ongoing strength & healing from God for Jaden= s doing so well since his recent diagnosis of diabetes & concern for her friend, Sabrina for continued strength, healing and spiritual encouragements for shut-ins who miss the fellowship of church family.

The Valentines concern for friend, Kathy Travis, with a brain tumor & child, Haley with cancer and for June Sostheim who fell & is at Carle Arbors.

Pat Ziebart joy for Sarah & her survival of a trip to Bloomington in yesterday= s blizzard, even though they spent some quality time in a ditch & not hitting anything but snow.

Bob deJong joy for the 1st service & dancing in the aisles.

Beth Morgan joy for going on a cruise with her best friend next week & concern for safe travel.

Vic & Laura Christman concern for all 3 of their boys who have coughs right now & they pray they will feel better soon.

Matt Peters joy for his mom= s birthday this coming week and concern for a customer of his who has incurable cancer.

Linda Entwistle joy for God= s mercy & protection, as 3 van-loads made a sometimes harrowing

journey to Bloomington & back on Friday night & thanks for Richard King, Ron Weidner & Scott Burns for their commitment to the families of Grace Church.

Chuck & Dorothy Collins concern for June Sostheim who is in Carle Arbors due to a fall she had at home. She & husband Bob are in great need of our prayers.

Doug & Mary Bauling joy that the power stayed on & the snow plows came through & concern that they can get back home before the road drifts in again.

Luann Wiedenmann concern for prayer of peace for the world that is so unsettled.

Scott Burns joy & thanks to Richard for all of his efforts to make the ski trip work.

Sharon King joy & glad they are back safely & concern that her quiet weekend disappeared.

June Schwartz joy for the safety thru the storm & concern for Dan= s trip back to Macomb.

Jen King joy that student teaching is going well & concern for her boyfriend= s family. His grandmother died on Tuesday. Concern for four friends of her= s who were shipped overseas because they are in the guard. A friend of her= s put his mother in a nursing home because she is dying of Multiple Sclerosis & a high school classmate of her= s is having surgery tomorrow.

We praise God for our joys and answered prayers. We continue lifting up those who

are still in need of our prayers, those that are recovering from surgery, facing new

surgery, and those that are grieving or ill.

If you know of someone in our church who is sick or in the hospital, please call the

church office 328-1414 and let us know.

Christian Sympathy

We extend our sympathies to Ann Dippel and family after the death of Ray. Ray passed

away on Wednesday, February 19. There will be a Memorial Service for him today at 2:00

at the church. The family will meet with everyone downstairs in the Fellowship Hall

following the service.

    Habitat for Humanity Angel Project

    The United Methodist Churches of our cluster are working together to build a house

    at 1202 Beslin. Grace Church= s portion of the $60,500 cost is $4259. Please make a pledge

    to help us meet our goal. (If each member and friend gave $10, we= d be there!)

    Another way to contribute is to put loose change in the Habitat Bank in the narthex.

    And we hope you= ll consider helping on at least one of our 6 designated workdays in

    the six months between April and September. Just sign the list and we'll call you to work or

    fill out a volunteer skills sheet by the Habitat poster in the narthex.

    We need someone that would like to coordinate a garage sale for Grace Church. If you

    A Soup and Sandwich Lunch@ , Sunday, March 2, 11:30 a.m. sponsored by United

    Methodist Women. Free-will offering. This is a benefit for a church member. We hope you

    can come and enjoy good food and fellowship.
