MID-WEEK LETTER from Grace United Methodist Church

August 9, 2007 Editor: Linda Entwistle

LAST WEEK:

Last Sunday, worship services were held in a tent back near the corn field. I was a bit concerned about keeping some of our elders out in the heat and humidity. But obviously many of our "elders" are made of stronger stuff than I gave them credit for, because most of them were present. Several of them commented that it was just like in earlier days, when there was no air conditioning, the church stored up heat all week long, and they sat through worship week after week just the same.

Following the late worship service, about 60 members of the congregation gathered to enjoy a potluck meal. We did choose to hold that in the air-conditioned fellowship hall-- nostalgia only goes so far.

VBS is wrapping up its 5 day run this evening. Following the regular activities, the parents have been invited to return at 7:20 for a short program and refreshments in the fellowship hall. Anyone from Grace who would like to drop by is welcome to do so.

Many people have helped to make this VBS a success. In some cases, we have had three generations of families present- a grandparent and parent helping, and a child participating. Several of these people entered this effort with just a three day break from working through corn season. Our thanks go out to everyone involved.
