MID-WEEK LETTER from Grace United Methodist Church

LAST WEEK:

Due to Spring Break last week, it was rather quiet around the church...

until Saturday, anyway.

That's when the District Committee on Ordained Ministry met at Grace.

This is the group that helps shepherd those who feel a call to ministry navigate all the various steps involved in exploring the call, receiving guidance, training, and experience, making the commitment, and preparing for a future of serving God.

Several of the children of Grace met in the fellowship hall to prepare some items for the bake sale. There was plenty of help on hand- moms, of course, but also teens, and even women whose own children are grown. The place was bursting with activity: they were measuring, creating, sharing, laughing, eating, playing...

And when the "fun stuff" was over on Saturday, the children showed up to "work" on Sunday morning- greeting people, answering questions, taking money, making change... The bake sale raised just over $240 for Second Harvest, an organization dedicated to fighting hunger in America.

In addition to all those things that we could observe going on, there were seeds planted and nurtured in their hearts and minds. Seeds that we will see the fruits of as they grow- a spirit of caring, generosity, and service... the heritage that we pass on to them, the children of "grace", the children of God.

Sunday, April 1: * Palm Sunday worship at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. Grace Years worship service at Parkview in Savoy at 2:00.

Grace Years worship service at Florida House at 4:00.

College-age Bible study at 5:00.

Senior High Youth Fellowship will meet at 6:30.

Monday, April 2: Growing in Grace rehearsal at 4:00 in the sanctuary.

Tuesday, April 3: Quilters will meet at 6:30.

Angelus hand bell choir will rehearse at 6:30.

Chancel Choir will rehearse at 7:30.

Wednesday, April 4: Men's Breakfast Group will meet at 6:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Grace years worship service at Canterbury Ridge at 3:00.

Cherub Choir will practice at 5:30.

Life Song will practice at 6:30 at the Aters' home.

WellSpring service at 7:30 in the sanctuary.
