MID-WEEK LETTER from Grace United Methodist Church May 17, 2007 Editor: Linda Entwistle LAST WEEK: In Rev. Mike's absence (his daughter Alison was graduating), the Cherub Choir delivered a message in word and song at both worship services last Sunday. Their theme was "Daring Disciples of Christ". Eight children between the ages of 5 and 10 recited lines, presented passages from the Bible, sang several songs- which included solos- and accompanied it all with choreographed movement. They did an excellent job and delighted the congregation. As we practice our Christian faith, most of us dare to hope for some recognition or reward from God that we have done our job well. And most of us don't expect to see that reward until we've finished with this life. But I think last Sunday was an early installment. The Sunday school teachers, parents, choir director, minister, VBS volunteers, have diligently handed down to our children the precepts and purposes of our faith. And on Sunday morning, the children demonstrated that they have been learning, accepting, and integrating those higher values into their own belief systems. No need to pat ourselves on the back- I think God just did that for us. ********** FOOD PANTRY NEEDS: canned meats, jelly, gelatin desserts
