MID-WEEK LETTER from Grace United Methodist Church

LAST WEEK:

The church council met last Sunday evening, after the concert. After discussion, it was decided that we will maintain our current Sunday morning schedule for the summer months.

There was consideration of moving to a single worship service, but that tends to result in a lowering of attendance, as well as making it more difficult to find an effective time for Sunday schools and fellowship time.

The children's Sunday school will continue to have classes for the preschool through fifth graders, but will be utilizing a One-Room Sunday school format for the summer. This will allow the teachers to rotate duties, so that they can all enjoy a well-deserved break while still serving our children.

All of the groups that share their music with us in worship- Chancel Choir, Angelus hand bells, Growing in Grace, Life Song, Cherubs- wrapped up their musical season at Grace's Spring Concert last Sunday.

Almost all of these groups will be taking a break over the summer months. In addition to these groups, the concert included many solos by members of the church.

THE CALENDAR: (Please note especially items marked with an asterisk).

Thursday, May 24: Children's ministry team meets at 6:30.

J.O.Y. sharing group will meet at 7:00 in the parlor.

Saturday, May 26: Saturday evening worship service at 5:30 in the old nursery.

Sunday, May 27: Grace Years worship service at Parkview in Savoy at 2:00.

Grace Years worship service at Sunnycrest at 4:00.

Monday, May 28: * Growing in Grace is taking a break for the summer. No practices until further notice.

Tuesday, May 29: Quilters will meet at 6:30.

* Angelus hand bell choir is taking a break for the summer. No practices until next August.

* Chancel Choir is also on hiatus until August.

Wednesday, May 30: Men's Breakfast Group will meet at 6:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Grace Years worship service at Canterbury Ridge at 3:00.

* Cherub Choir has finished rehearsals for the summer. They will resume in the fall.

Life Song will practice at 6:30 at the Aters' home.

Mission ministry team will meet at 7:00.

WellSpring service at 7:30 in the sanctuary.
