Joys and Concerns from last Sunday
Lisa Searing joy that her dad’s surgery went well & he is home and
concern for continued recovery as he prepares for another operation in the
next few months.
Beth Morgan joy for the help and support of others and for a great
teacher that was hired to work with me while I work part-time.
Concern for Joan Newcomb who’s father passed away this week and their
travel to Ind.
Georgia Hillery joy that her sister Mildred had surgery Friday to
remove a tumor from her spine. Surgery went fine & the tumor was not
cancerous. Please keep her in your prayers.
Martha Rosenbery joy that for her own healing & return to work and her
aunt’s excellent recovery & expected discharge from the hospital tomorrow
and concern for her mother’s increasing difficulties.
Jill King joy for her continued health during her weight loss (91 lbs)
this a.m.
Shirley Jenkins joy for a safe trip & seeing her grandson, Nathen and
her dad is at home doing okay.
Judie Swanson joy that her 87 year old mother was able to help her with
her move and adjusted to living with 58 women and concern for travelers
this holiday weekend.
Kyra & Eli Entwistle joy for the beginning of a new school year and new
Sunday School year.
Barb Wood concern for Mary Bauling, who is in the hospital.
Shirley Judy’s joy in hearing from Marge Ladwig ( who lives in
Minnesota) and concern that Marge is using a walker now, even in her
apartment.
Laura Christman’s joy & excitement in starting a new job on Tuesday &
hope all will go well and concern for her sister, Melissa, who is
recovering from surgery in Colorado.
Bob deJong’s joy in a visit from her sister.
Ted & Jessica Hartke’s joy for her aunt, Brenda Mockbee, who is home
after a long hospital stay and concern for his 88 yr-old grandmother,
Margaret Platz, who passed away and funeral was last Saturday.
We praise God for our joys and answered prayers. We continue lifting up
those who are still in need of our prayers, those that are recovering from
surgery, facing new surgery, and those that are grieving or ill.
If you know of someone in our church who is sick or in the hospital,
please call the church office 328-1414 and let us know.

| Mark your calendar: This Friday, September 13th
is the Ice Cream Social. Come and enjoy
some ice cream and your favorite desserts. We will be serving from
6:00-8:00 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs. We will have a washer tournament
outside, weather permitting.
SLUMBER CROP
The "Scrapping Group" at Grace is back in action! Our first
meeting/activity/crop will be on Friday, Sept. 13TH at 7:00
p.m. We’re having a "Slumber Crop" and Home Show by Creative
Memories Consultant, Theresa Johnson. It will be held at Susan Ferguson’s
home at 802 Scovill St., Urbana. Starting at 7 p.m. will be the Home Show
and afterwards we’ll be cropping until 12 a.m. - yes, that’s right,
midnight! Come for part or all of the event. Bring a friend - door prizes
for all who attend!
Beginners are encouraged to attend since Theresa will be on hand to
answer any questions you may have about scrapbooking and you’ll be able to
see what you do when you attend a "crop."
Dress is comfy and casual - remember it is a "slumber crop"
after all!! Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Susan Ferguson at
367-5814 or at by Wed., Sept. 11th so that we can plan for this
fun event!
VOICE RECITAL
You are cordially invited to a voice recital given by baritone Tim
Bowlby with pianist Tom Schleis on Saturday, September 14, at 3:00 p.m. in
the University Place Christian Church sanctuary (403 S. Wright St.,
Champaign). Repertoire includes works by Johannes Brahms, Ralph Vaughan
Williams, Antonio Vivaldi and others. All are welcome. Free admission.

XYZ’s to the Timbers
We will leave the church at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 12 to go to the
"Timbers" where they have a lodge, trail rides, nature walks, and you can
also feed the catfish. Some of our group have been there before and have
had buggy rides, also. It’s a beautiful atmosphere. Come join us for a
relaxing fun day. We have the best chauffeur around!!
The restaurant food is superb. Call your reservation in to the Huberts
no later than Monday, September 9 at 367-6395. If no answer, please
leave a message on the recorder.
